The Annual Holiday Party of the
Greater
Washington Urban League-Urban Roundtable The private residence
of Mr. Alvin Gross was the festive setting for the Annual Holiday Party of the
Greater Washington Urban League-Urban Roundtable. The Urban Roundtable, an auxiliary
of the Greater Washington Urban League is comprised of 75 mid-career professionals
dedicated to community service through its various programs.
"Sock
it to Me" was the theme of this informal soirée on Saturday, December
15, 2001. Greater than one hundred members and guests of the Urban Roundtable
sported mix of casual and holiday attire with the option of literally kicking
their shoes off and relaxing in their stocking feet. The shoes optional policy
was a wonderful conversation piece as several attendees wore colorful, fashionable
foot accessories. Dancing kept the partygoers on their feet until the wee hours
of the morning. In the spirit of the Holiday Season, each party participant
provided new toys or canned goods to be given to the underprivileged. "Socks
Off" to Ms. Nancee Lyons, party organizer, and her committee who succeeded
in making this event fun for all.
