and Opulence Abound at the Greater Washington Urban League Urban Roundtable's
"White Summer Nights" Gala Windswept was the warm June
evening that provided the dazzling ambiance for the "White Summer Nights"
Gala hosted by the Greater Washington Urban League's Urban Roundtable. As the
twilight sun set over the Potomac river, three hundred guests adorned in ethereal
white set the night ablaze at the palatial Oxon Hill Manor in Prince George's
County, Maryland. The Gala, which will certainly become the organization's signature
event, commemorated the fifth anniversary of the Urban Roundtable. Proceeds from
the event will be used to support the Roundtable's community service projects.
Partygoers were feted with cuisine from Port Café, wine tasting
provided by 57 Main Street Wine Company, and the smooth jazz of John
Lewis and the Groove Squad. Strictly Old School provided "back-in-the-day"
dance tunes for the sophisticated thirty-to-forty something crowd. Urban
Roundtable Chairperson, Ms. Tamar Meekins, Esq., Vice-Chairperson, Mr. Carl Mayfield,
Ms. Jan Tyson, Mr. Hugh Watkins, Mr. Damian Bond, Esq., Ms. Renne Gray, Ms. Tracy
Edgecombe, Ms. Nancee Lyons, Ms. L. Karen Kinney and scores of other Roundtable
members worked diligently to make this a successful summer soiree. Ms. Kevia Richardson,
Event Chairperson, is to be extolled for her excellent execution of this most
elegant and opulent event.
